Out of the blue

(Writing this here because I left my notebook and my bag at my late Grandpa's house. Galeng nu.)

Love that wins is not the kind that always gives us what we want. It could be something we might not even want at the moment.

It's good love. This could be the type that the heart cannot accept because of fear. Or something that could bring change we don't want. Then again, it is something we need. It can be stubborn or misunderstood but at the end of the day, it is what we need. It's hard to believe but it's the kind we truly deserve. Through time we realize that after all, it is patient and persevering, looking past all flaws and rejections.

Or something like that. I don't claim to be an expert on this topic but people keep using the word "love" so loosely. Like it no longer has weight. So here's my contribution to the conversation.

I'm back?!?

Sorry for the year-long absence.
Life happened.

There's a lot on my heart.
It's all out of my hands.
Is it ever too much?
It's all out of my hands.

I can so relate.

Throwback Thursday 01: More Than Life

Somewhere in time there’s a teenage girl hiding out in the attic (her bedroom) blasting this tape. She saved up some of her Christmas money to buy the record. She doesn’t understand much about life and the future seemed to be drawing closer.

But for some reason the songs brought peace at a time when everything was a blur. #

Tuesday Tune: Home

Home - Hillsong Worship
I remember listening to this song on my discman (!!!) while trying to fall asleep one night during our Seniors Retreat ten years ago. My friends were already snoring but I was twisting and turning in my bed because it was while listening to this song that I received something from God. It was a nice surprise at a time when nothing was sure. Back then I didn’t know where I’d go for college, what course to take up, how we’d pay the tuition, etc. But somehow I was given a glimpse of the future. That we’ll be alright. I’ll be alright. That the things we worry about will come to pass if we trust Him and that He always gives the best. He never fails.

Tuesday Tunes: Digital Dreams

I don't know how long I'll be able to keep making playlists but I'll keep going even if no one's really reading this blog. As usual, this is another playlist of songs that I enjoy. (Who would make a playlist of songs they hate, anyway?) Right now I'm having this synthpop-indie-electronica mood. And with this mood comes my desire to write stuff that is not work related. Maybe I'll get to that later. In the meantime, enjoy the music!

P.S. Happy birthday, Iceal! #

Tuesday Tunes: Encourage Yourself :)

Please don't take yourself too seriously. If you're feeling low, these tunes will encourage you. I personally love these songs because they're so encouraging and fun to listen to. Also, the women in this playlist are my faves. :)

Brighter Days - Clara C
Hopin' this'll all be worth the wait
Keep on racin' to a place of brighter days

Falling - HAIM
Don't stop, no, I'll never give up

Brave - Sara Bareilles
Honestly, I wanna see you be brave

Kings and Queens - Brooke Fraser
Forget the wars we fight, forget the tears you cry

Don't Be So Hard On Yourself - Jess Glynne
Let's go back to simplicity
I feel like I've been missing me

Someday - Barbie's Cradle
Someday, I say
We'll make a brighter day better than our yesterday

Live Your Life - Yuna
Rise before you fall
And hope for something more

I'm All Yours - Rachael Lampa
I'm not gonna fall, I'm giving it all

P.S. I don't think I'll be online tomorrow so I'm posting tomorrow's playlist today. I'll be out of town for a work thing until Thursday so here's me wishing you a happy and productive week.#

Tuesday Tunes: Times & Places

I know no one reads this thing so I'm just going to post another playlist with some of my favorite songs. Perfect for the rainy days. If it's warm where you are, these songs will make you feel cold. :P

Berlin - Snow Patrol
(Because in my memory it will always be Spring in Berlin.)

Tokyo - Lianne La Havas
All I've every known is
How to be alone
It comes naturally

Grew a thicker skin
Now it's growing thin
You can see right into me

In Your Atmosphere - John Mayer
I’m gonna steer clear
I burn up in your atmosphere

Ohio - Hyukoh
Give up now
to live in the peace
that we made before

Learning to Breathe - Switchfoot
I could use a fresh beginning too
All of my regrets are nothing new

December - Sara Bareilles
Act like we all will start over on a pristine slate
To give yourself a new life
You’ve got to give the other one away

Waiting for my Time to Come - Colony House
Be patient now, let the fire burn

Is this the end of a dream I lost
Or just an introduction to how much it may cost?

Mind Over Matter - Young the Giant
And when the seasons change, will you stand by me?
